We are specialist breeders of Mangalitza pigs. There are three Mangalitza breed lines in the UK (The 'Blonde', 'Swallow Bellied' and the 'Red'). Originally from Hungary theses rare breed, curly coated Mangalitza pigs have many benefits including their easy going attitude and great mothering ability, its outstanding flavour that produces some of the best Parma ham and their ability to withstand hot sunshine without being affected by sunburn.
We also breed Lleyn sheep and White Dorper sheep.
Cromar Sheep & Pigs are situated at Wester Strathweltie Farm, Tarland Aboyne in the renowned Howe O’ Cromar area of Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
The farm is part of the MacRobert Trust and we have been tenants with them for twenty years.
Sited at over seven hundred feet above sea level, the area is well known for the quality of stock it can produce. Because of the harsh winters of cold, wet, snow and frost, the animals farmed here are found to thrive extremely well when moved to lower ground and improved conditions.
